And so it begins...

Well, it's finally here. Hockey season. After a long summer, the Penguins are not only back to playing, but are opening up the brand new Consol Energy Center with a game against their biggest rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers.

No word on the official roster as of yet, which likely will not be announced until this afternoon, but we do know a few things.
  • Forward Jordan Staal is still out indefinitely with a lingering foot injury/infection from the playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens.
  • Forward Arron Asham is day-to-day, but missed the last several preseason games, and may possibly not play the opener.
  • Penguins prospect Eric Tangradi was sent to the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL last night, but was recalled to Pittsburgh early this morning, most likely he will be in if Asham can not play tonight.
It will definitely be interesting to see what the line up looks like tonight, but nothing will be able to change the anticipation surrounding this game.
First game of the season.
First regular season game in a long-awaited (and much needed) new arena.
A game against the Flyers.

So, not matter what the outcome of tonight's game is, it is guaranteed to be memorable.

It is truly, a great day for hockey.

Pens Lose... :(

The Pens struck first blood by Cooke scoring a garbage goal, but they couldn't hang on. Ever since Feds took an early penalty after Cookie's goal. The refs weren't giving us anything and it effected the entire game for us. Game ended up 1-3 Habs. Series tied 2-2.

The whole loss can't be put on the shoulders of losing J Staal, but i'm sure it had something to do with it. Since Sid and Geno weren't producing Staal would have been a big help. The 3rd line though looked pretty good today. TK was everywhere! Definitly missed him! Let's hope our team decides to pick it up in the Bell Center to win game 3!

PS: Didn't actually watch game 2...but Chels is working on a paper so I had do this post. Wish her good luck on her paper!

Let's go Pens!

Rowdy Pulls it off

Alright,  quick NASCAR update.

Nationwide Series raced on Friday night. Keselowski won. No one cares.

Cup raced a few hours ago. Kyle Busch dominated for much of the race, the only other car who even looked close to him was that of Jeff Gordon, who led the 2nd most laps.

It looked as though Gordon was on his way to winning, until a restart near the end of the race. Busch did what he does best, beat people off the restart. He then cruised to victory, his 1st of the season, & 2nd straight at Richmond.
