Upset City

Well, what basically no one thought would happen, did. The #8 seed Canadiens defeated the #1 seed Capitals. Took them all 7 games, but they did it.
Game 7 was a nail biter for the whole time.
It looked like it was going to be scoreless through the first, but Mike Green pulled off his normal antics and took a dumb penalty, resulting in a Habs powerplay. Habs scored.
2nd period was scoreless and Halak continued to impress everyone with his saves.
Then the 3rd...would the Caps be able to pull it off or would the Habs shock the hockey world?
Goal: Habs.
Too much time left.
Habs make it a 2-0 lead. Everyone starts celebrating.
Not so fast. Caps score.
The last few minutes of this game were a complete frenzy, especially at the end when the Habs took a penalty & Caps had their goalie pulled. 6 on 4. Props to Backstrom for keeping the puck out of the empty net. Too bad it wasn't enough.
Habs win.

The laughter around the league could be heard for miles. Ovechkin fails to win yet another game 7. Every series he has ever been in has gone 7 games. He's won 1. Against the Rangers.
Anyone who continues to say Ovie is better than Sid is a joke.

Case closed.

So what does this mean for the Pens????
Well, we will play the Canadiens, with us obviously having home ice advantage.

Yes, it's the time when VS starts to take over. But hey, I'd rather have to deal with them then be on the golf course.

Playing the Canadiens may not be as easy as everyone thought. With Halak playing like he has been, getting the puck past him could prove to be difficult. At the same time, Washington isn't much of a threat for scoring from all 3 lines. With the Pens, pretty much anyone could score.
We all cheered for the Habs tonight. That ended the moment that clock hit zero. Now we have to develop a hatred for them. We will have to hear a million times how Sid cheered for them growing up, as well as our French Canadiens. We've done rather well in the past against them. But this is the playoffs. Regular season stats mean nothing.
Buckle in everyone, it's gonna be good.

Disappointment and Hope

Yesterday morning I was so excited for the next two NHL playoff games to come. Unfortunately, last night the Wings absolutely killed the Yotes 6-1. This game looked as if it was going to be close after the first period which remained scoreless. It even looked tight when the score was still 2-1. Then the Wings added a goal around the 14th minuet and another with five seconds left in the second period. At this point I'm sure everyone thought the Yotes were out of it and everyone was correct. The Wings added two more goals in the third and they move on to play the Sharks in the next round. From past experiences in the playoffs I believe that the Wings are going to beat the Sharks on the pure fact that the Sharks never preform well in the playoffs, even though they did seem to make it past the first round of these playoffs with relatively no trouble.

The last game of the first round is being played tonight and it's a series I'm sure no one thought would go to a 7th game. It started off good for Les Canadiens with a game 1 win, but in game two they dropped the ball and gave up a huge lead. The Caps then won the next 2 games, but the Canadiens are resilient and ended up upsetting the Caps in games 5 and 6. So, that leave us with game 7 tonight. After watching the Wings kill the Preds last night I'm not feeling so great about this game 7 tonight. I did, however, talk to a kid I know who is a Caps fan and asked him how he felt and he said he doesn't feel good, so that's some semi positive news. Barry Melrose even said this morning on Sports Center that he doesn't think that Ovie and keep up with Sid and that
Mike Green is playing awful defence.

So, we'll see tonight who'll win and we hope it's not the Caps! If not just for the pure fact that we really really hate Ovechkin and most of the Capitals "star powered" team, then because of that stupid Caps Rap video posted earlier this season.

Let's Go Pens

Catching Up

Alright, we swore to ourselves that we would keep this up to date, then the reality that is college set in & about 10 projects all appeared at once. Really should be working on that now, but taking a time out to update on current happenings in NHL & NASCAR.
