The Pens did what no one expected in game one...(no, not the win) they went 4 for 4 on the PP. Mike Yeo had to be dancing after the game. The Pens scored more PP goals in the first 13 minutes of the game than the Caps did in 7 games.
The Pens played a dominating game, getting goals from 6 different players, none of whom were Crosby or Malkin (although they both did contribute)
Fleury once again looked solid, the goals he gave up weren't too bad, the first one was probably the worst.
So basically the Pens came out & broke Halak in one game, just like they did to Cam Ward last year. So what's the problem???
Jordan Staal is hurt. That's right, the Pens ironman, who has missed one game in his career, is out. Sources initially had it being a season ending injury. Pens fans everywhere panicked. Some may job Staal at times, but anyone who doesn't see his importance is a joke.
However, Coach Disco had some good news for us. The media was wrong. Staal had a procedure done to repair a lacerated tendon in his foot. Disco won't give a timetable for return, but many are saying 7-10 days, and I would imagine Staal would try to come back quicker. That's just how he is.
Still. Without him in the lineup, Pens are gonna have to be more defensive minded. He's not nominated for the Selke for nothing.
Pens play in like, 13 hours.
Time for some sleep.
